Kings Beach – Let the salt be 🌊
News - 2/11/2026
Option 3 for the salt behind the wall is selling it, and one of the uses they mention is "the curing of meat". The founding partner of Dam Kings Beach is Cham's Small Meats & Preservatives so we thought we'd look into it.
Going by the labels at the supermarket, salami is usually about 4 to 5 grams of salt per 100 grams, so if a factory makes one tonne of salami that's something like 40 to 50 kilos of salt, just in the salami. We don't know how much salami Cham's make but their website says they have 60 staff, and they also sell curing products and preservatives by the pail. They have also put out a statement about their salt which says none of it comes from Kings Beach, and we have no reason to doubt that, although we were surprised to see it described as a form of salt containment.
We want to be clear that we have nothing against Cham personally, he seems like a nice man and we have heard the salami is very good. We're not accusing anyone of anything, we just think it's fair to ask.
